Lal tibba (2,227m) situated in the Landour Cantt. The Area is the top most point of the highest peak in Mussoorie. If Mussoorie is known as the ‘Queen of the Hills,’ then Landour or the Lal Tibba must be the ‘Fairer Princess .’
Lal tibba is one place in Mussoorie which is fortunately still not affected by the commercialization. The views from the top are fabulous, and one can see a lot of ranges on a clear day. Another place of interest in the small town is Deposit Hill also known as Lal Tibba. It is the highest of Mussoorie and beautiful Paranoma of Himalayas is visible on clear days. The Badrinath, Kedarnath, Bandarpooch, Sri Kanta, and Nanda Devi can be seen from here.
Lal Tiba is a picturesque location for spending some quality time. This is the most popular tourist point in Mussoorie. Groups of tourist and couples would come here to have their pictures clicked in romantic poses with the mighty Himalayas in the background. A Japanese Binocular is installed near Childer’s Lodge which offers scenic views of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Banderpunch, and other Himalayan ranges.
Lal Tibba also was known as the Depot Hill owing to the presence of a depot, also it houses a camp of the Indian Military services, towers of Doordarshan and All India Radio. The road to Lal tibba passes through the most beautiful Deodar with mixed Oak and Rhododendron.
There are a lot of cafes around so you can lounge around and spend time here. There is a winding track around that place which runs around the deep forest.There are just two buildings there with an open terrace, and the owners charge you 20 bucks to go to the yard, or you need to order something to eat. Maggie, Cold Coffee, Burgers are available at your disposal.
How to reach Lal Tibba?
Lal Tibba is just five km from mall road, accessible by car and easy parking in the Landour Road. It is a challenging hike which makes the scenery more rewarding.
