Jageshwar is situated at a distance of 30 km from Almora. Jageshwar is a Pilgrimage and a historical town. The tall and flourishing green Deodar tree surrounds the town. The main temple of Jageshwar is dedicated to Baal (child) Shiva and another temple dedicated to Vriddha (old) Shiva. The Vriddha Jageshwar is situated 15 km from the main temple.
Furthermore the campus also contains other temples that are devoted to Jageshwar Mahadev, Dandeshwar, Mrityunjay Mahadev, Nav-Grahas (9nine planet), Kuber and Surya Temple. Dandeshwar is the biggest and Mrityunjay is the oldest temple among all the temples. Most of all Jageshwar has around 124 large and small temples that were built during a span of 1000 years from 8th to 18th century AD. The temple wall and pillars contain many cipher inscriptions that date back to the 7th century AD.

While over hundred sculptures in the temple are also under the Archaeological survey of India (ASI).

By Road: 120 km from Kathgodam, nearest railway station and 90 km from Nainital. One can take route: “Kathgodam-Bhimtal-Bhowali-Ranikhet-Almora” to make a good circuit.
