Sattal Tourism – How to Reach Sattal By Road, Rail, Flights
Sattal is linked by road and is accessible throughout the year. Its close proximity with its more pompous cousins Nainital, Bhimtal and Nauchiyatal makes it popular to be in the nature without missing the citylights.
Sattal is the picturesque hamlet in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. Its most scene and quiet places that give preference to nature over man. You would astonished to witness the serenity in the place. There are just a few resorts and camps to provide accommodation to the few natural enthusiast that come to Sattal.
Sattal By Train (Railways)
The nearest railway station is Kathgodam which is 33 kms from the town. Kathgodam is the gateway to Kumaon region so the trains run frequently. Kathgodam is well connected to Delhi through trains.
There are three trains from Delhi to Kathgodam.
Uttaranchal Sampark Kranti – in which tickets are available even few hours before the departure. It arrives late at night. You need to make sure that you already have pre-booked cab, hotel, and hot dinner waiting for you in Sattal. The cabs will charge an insane high amount to take you to Sattal. Also make sure that the cabs take you to the door of the resort. The wildlife in this area are active in Night.
Ranikhet Express – It is an excellent overnight journey. You need to book your ticket well in advance. Tatkal ticket booking is always an option. The train leaves Delhi at 11 P.M and reaches Kathgodam at 6 A.M. There are no buses directly from Haldwani/Kathgodam to sattal. In that case you have to take bus to Bhowali and ask the conductor to drop at sattal road. You have to rely on your host to pick you from here.
The Shatabdi Express – It is the favorites; tickets are available easily a few days. It is the fastest leaves Old Delhi at 6 A.M and reaches Kathgodam by 11:30 AM. The only drawback of Shatabdi train is the food offered in the train. According to new rules the food is not mandatory.
Sattal By Road
Sattal is well connected by roads to other towns in Uttarakhand like Naukuchiyatal, Almora and Nainital. Sate owned and Private buses run frequently from Anand Vihar ISBT Delhi to Sattal. Since delhi is around 323 km from Sattal the journey can be covered comfortably in 6-7 hours.
Delhi —> Mohan nagar —> Ghaziabad —> Moradabad —> Kaladhungi —> Haldwani —> Bhimtal —> Mehra Gaon —> Sattal
It takes around 700 bucks to book a taxi from Haldwani to Sattal or you have another option to take a bus from bus station which is 10 min walk from Kathgodam. If you got heavy luggage you can take a rickshaw to Bus Station Haldwani. Busses regularly leave to Bhowali or Nainital, taking that bus you can reach Mehra Gaon from where you have to take Graphic Era route to reach Sattal. From mehragaon the taxis take around 30 bucks per person to drop you to Sattal.
Sattal By Air
Pantnagar in Udham Singh Nagar is the nearest airport at a distance of around 70kms.
One can take a taxi or bus from Pantnagar to reach Sattal by a comfortable ride of approx 2 hours.
